Did you know that Southeastern Guide Dogs breeds, raises, and trains some of the finest guide dogs and service dogs in the world? Thanks to the intelligence and fine training of these dogs, people with vision loss, veterans with disabilities, and children facing significant challenges find the freedom, confidence, and independence that they need. Dogs are trained for a full two years and learn 20-40 cues - they are superhero dogs that transform lives - and save lives. All guide and service dogs, the dog food, medical preventatives, and annual veterinary care are provided to recipients free of charge so that there is no burden. Southeastern Guide Gods relies 100% on donations.
I decided to participate in their biggest fundraiser of the year, the Walkathon. I've formed a team and set an ambitious Walkathon fundraising goal of $5000 and am excited to contribute to the life changing mission of Southeastern Guide Dogs. Our team members hope to contribute all donations towards a scholarship for our youth guide dog program for teenagers that have vision loss. Because of your support, a teenager in high school will have increased independence, self confidence, and freedom -- the impact is profound.
Once accepted into the program, Southeastern Guide Dogs matches the teenager with a highly trained guide dog and trains them how to work with their guide dog in their home, school, and community environment. They’ll learn how to handle the dog, including navigation skills, canine care, and more. After the training is completed, our Alumni Scholarships for our Youth Guide Dog Program Support team follows up with assistance for the
life of the team. Providing a scholarship for a teen in the youth guide
dog program is a generous and
thoughtful way to make an impact.
The value of a guide dogs or service dog is priceless, and your friendship and support to Southeastern Guide Dogs means the world to me ---thank you! There are no contributions that are too small, or too large. Thank you for being a part of this and changing a teenager's life by helping to raise money for the support of their guide dog.
