Welcome to Alex's Page
Southeastern Guide Dogs breeds, raises, and trains some of the finest guide dogs, service dogs, and skilled companion dogs in the world. The puppies are adorable, but to witness these amazing dogs in training is nothing short of miraculous. Thanks to the intelligence and fine training of these dogs, people with vision loss, veterans with disabilities, and children with significant challenges find the freedom, confidence, and independence they need.
When I learned that Southeastern Guide Dogs relies 100% on private donations, receives no government funding, and doesn't charge for their dogs or services, I decided to participate again in this year's Walkathon. I am excited to contribute to and be a part of the life changing mission of Southeastern Guide Dogs.
I am excited everyday when I bring my present foster son, 23 month old black lab, to school and see his exuberance as he gets out of the car. I am proud that I was able to help two dogs graduate; one in December placed with a 28 year veteran and the second in March placed with a 20 year veteran. My third, one I have now, needed special care and a special home because he was ill. It is emotional giving up a dog after 10 weeks of caring for her/him but that is the mission that I signed up for.
All of my foster children, as I like to call them, have been warmly welcomed in The Gardens, my home community. Many of the people have fallen in love with them. My present dog is large and loves to put his head on the table as we play cards or dominoes. I now supply paper towels to people because he is a drooler. What's not to love. Dogs bring out the best in us. Here is a 13 minutes video of the second dog I fostered ( https://fb.watch/3nVamu-y95/ ).
