Welcome to the Halsema Family's Fundraising Page!
Did you know that Southeastern Guide Dogs breeds, raises, and trains some of the finest guide dogs, service dogs, and skilled companion dogs in the world? The puppies are adorable, but to witness these amazing dogs in training is nothing short of miraculous. Thanks to the intelligence and fine training of these dogs, people with vision loss, veterans with disabilities, and children with significant challenges find the freedom, confidence, and independence that hey need.
When we learned that Southeastern Guide Dogs doesn't charge for their dogs or services, we decided to participate in their biggest fundraiser of the year - the Walkathon; this is our third year! We are puppy raisers and our first puppy was a goldador named Peyton. Peyton became an official working guide dog in August '21 and was matched with a wonderful man named Brad. Sadly, Brad passed away shortly after returning home with Peyton. To honor him, we have set a fundraising goal of $4,000.00 to be able to name a puppy after Brad. Peyton is currently back at campus awaiting a new match, and his larger than life picture greets everyone that drives through the gates of campus. We are now raising a labrador retriever named Zane who is just about to turn 1. We feel tremendously blessed to be puppy raisers for Southeastern and are excited to do all that we can to contribute to the life changing mission of Southeastern Guide Dogs. Come join us!
